Buying Babar books and DVDs for children online

Stories of Babar King of the Elephants is available to buy online for children in books and dvds. A large selection is available through Amazon. I learned about Babar when our granddaughter checked the books out of the library and fell in love with the characters in the stories. She had just turned 3 years old.

The Babar series of books is on a list of books recommended by former First Lady Laura Bush.

On the Babar DVDs, I have to say the music is fun to hear.

While the books are for children starting at the preschool age, the stories are not childish.

The Babar books were written by Jean de Brunhoff and later his son, Laurent de Brunhoff.

They’re great for summer reading, birthday gifts, or Christmas. Buy a Babar book or DVD as a gift for a teacher.

This DVD shows how Babar became king of the elephants after his mother is shot by hunters and he makes his way to the big city where he discovers a new life and meets the Old Lady.

This is a favorite DVD for our granddaughter who’s about to turn four. It’s a good one for discovering the Babar series and seeing Babar change from a child to a grown man who re-connects with his friends including Celeste whom he eventually marries.

It also introduces the conflict between the elephants and the rhinos!

Babar and Father Christmas

I get a kick out of reading Babar and Father Christmas. The story shows Babar’s curious nature and how he goes to discover where Father Christmas lives. The story is a good way to introduce children to both Paris and Eastern Europe.

Parents and grandparents will enjoy reading this Babar story to children. As the story develops, it seems like it begins to take twists and turns and you wonder where it’s headed. However, Babar convinces Father Christmas to return and meet the elephants. Father Christmas comes for a visit and has a great time!
