Buying a Cuisinart coffee maker or Mr. Coffee coffee maker

If you’re looking to buy a coffee maker, then I recommend either Cuisinart or the Mr. Coffee coffee maker. Using coffee makers on a daily basis is almost new to me and my wife since we have used instant coffee for many years. Using a drip coffee maker always seemed like so much work, especially when it came to cleaning. The brewed coffee always tasted better but the instant seemed more convenient. These coffee makers are proven effective. In February 2012, Tassimo coffee makers were recalled due to the danger of bursting from the plastic disc that holds the tea or coffee.

We have had a household full of bouncing-off-the-wall children and not too many places to store a coffee maker, the glass holder broke fairly often. But several months ago we pulled out our old Mr. Coffee maker that brewed about 10 cups, plugged it in, and started brewing away. One of the problems we faced was the paper filters seemed to droop at the edge. My wife would buy coffee filters from the 99 Cent Only store and we had to double up on them. Melitta coffee filters are certainly better quality, but there are also times I’ve noticed we’ve had to double up on those.

This summer, we used a Cuisinart programmable coffee maker while on vacation. The programmable cleaning function is one of my favorite settings! The coffee had a good taste and the cups were brewed fairly quickly. I do remember a few drips coming out of the coffee pot and on to the counter.

When we returned home, we got rid of our old Mr. Coffee maker and bought a new Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffee maker at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. No paper filters are necessary. The brewing basket is solid on the bottom and the water strains the coffee grounds through the sides of the basket.

The coffee maker has regular strength and strong settings for brewing. There is a 3-beep alarm that sounds when the coffee is done brewing and another 3-beep alarm after the maker has been on for two hours; it beeps and then automatically shuts down.

The coffee is easy to pour and not spill any on the counter.

I haven’t been able to figure out how to warm up the coffee in the pot on the heating unit.

Both the Cuisinart we used and the Mr. Coffee have similar styles: a rectangular top to pour the water in a silver and black design. The appearance fits fine in our kitchen.

I feel like we have discovered new coffee maker technology! The nicest thing is we have the taste of brewed coffee and it’s just as convenient as instant coffee.
