Celebrating Milestones: Writing and creating my 100th Hub

Learning from other Hubbers
I’m celebrating a milestone of creating my 100th Hub as a writer on Hubpages. I’ve moved slow, yet steady, and set a goal last July to make 100 Hubs.
I want to start this first section by acknowledging other Hub writers (Hubbers) whom I’ve learned from in their writing and their commitment to building a positive online community. I’ve not written to many on a personal basis and I haven’t participated in the forums often. But here is a partial list of names of those who have been instructive.
First, I’d like to thank AEvans.
Thanks for communicating with me on and off ever since I logged on and created a profile. You’ve been an encouragement. I want to go back and read one of your Hubs on some of the challenges you faced last year. I identify with it because during the past three years I’ve experienced sets of difficulties that have made me question my faith and question my skill sets. Yet, when I see your cheering words to others it brightens me as well and gives me hope.
Help Don celebrate his Hubs like Laker fans celebrate championships!
Keep those Hubs pumping!
Other Hubbers
I may have never communicated with some of these Hubbers (it is a partial list):
Hal Licino – when my inbox fills up, I know this Hubber has created another list of Hubs. I don’t know any other writer who publishes as many. I get a kick out of them even though we have not communicated here on the forums or through email. Keep writing and letting us know what you have learned!
Nellie Hoxie – Nellie has been instructive in learning about product Hubs. While she’s not the only one, and she has an eBay account, it’s worth reading her Hubs to see how they’re constructed. Nellie also confirmed in my mind the value of going to the library and taking notes to organize thoughts and do research to speed up the writing process.
Patty Inglish – Another prolific Hubber writing in depth on certain themes.
Mark Knowles – God bless you, Mark . . . er, sorry . . . seriously, you provide valuable information on constructing product Hubs and great input on Adsense.
Wordplay – also terrific Hubs on Adsense.
Julie Amos – I still want to contact regarding my professional writing.
Stevemark122000 is a great example of someone who writes in a specific niche. I’ve been much more scattered.
Habee is another Hubber of note in my opinion.
There are many others.
Some of my favorite Hubs I've written
- Wearing sunglasses
Wearing sunglasses can be for practical reasons or as a fashion accessory. There are several factors for choosing the best sunglasses to wear. - Landscaping a Patio in Your Backyard
We recently landscaped a patio in our backyard and, with some minimal prep work ahead of time, we were able to nearly complete the entire project on a Saturday. Here is how we constructed our backyard... - Cheap Gas or TopTier Gas: The Best Gas for Your Car
This article on top tier gas was originally written in August 2008 which is why the gas prices stated are high. Hey, gas dropped to $ 4.15 near my neighborhood in Pasadena, California if you purchase at an...
My Hubpages overview
Some things I wish I did differently:
- Checking my fan mail: I forgot to check my fan mail for months. I wasn’t ignoring folks. It didn’t occur to me to check.
- Writing in thematic clusters. I’d write a Hub on one topic, then go off and write on a completely different topic. I plan to write more of my future Hubs in clusters. In other words, one main subject written from a few different angles.
- Interlinking more – I’ve just started linking my related Hubs together much more. And I’m glad. I’m getting more clicks each day on Adsense.
- Writing more product Hubs – my Hub on wearing sunglasses earned Adsense money about 48 hours after it was published. That’s the first one that performed like that. It’s my best example of a product Hub.
- Plan to write 50 Hubs that are product related or offer good how to info before seeing regular Adsense money coming through.
- 30 Day Hub Challenge is good – write in thematic clusters to leverage time. The content will boost readership
- Search engine rankings can take up to 6 or 7 months. My most visited Hub at this point is on Cheap Gas or Top Tier Gas. It had very few visitors until after 8 months and suddenly visitors were kicking in via Google.
- Persist and keep learning. You’ve got to love online writing. It does help to organize one’s thinking.
I wonder how many sites other Hubbers write to? It’s challenging but I write to five different sites and I have my own blog. That’s a reason why I haven’t participated in the community here as much. I may have scattered myself too thin and it’s difficult to produce adequately at all sites.
Use your Hubs to teachReaders want good how to information. Use your Hubs to offer credible information that benefits others.
I’m grateful for those who read each of my Hubs – so feel
free to comment and I will comment more often on the Hubs of others.

Well Done Don. 100 hubs is an impressive milestone indeed. I've only just started following you but I've found the variety of your hubs refreshing and enjoyable to read.
Amber
What warm words and detail thank you for your kind words and I believe that you to are one of the hubbers who truly encourage me to become all that I can and I am truly happy to see you back on hubpages. I knew you were never far away and all of us for some reason have to move through the storms to get to the sunshine but if we just continue to believe we can get through anything. God only gives us as much as we can handle. Sometimes it seems so large but if we just have faith we can prevail. Keep on writing! I am excited to read some more new hubs. :)
Thanks Don for showing this hub for us. It really nice have a plan in writing. For me "how to" is the best idea in writing. I like give information and helping others trough the hub. I hope we can survive here and giving the best to others. Make the community always support each other. I rate this up!
Congrats on your 100th Hub. It's nice that you have met lots of lovely people on HP and you are enjoying writing. I learnt somethings in your Hub too about Product Hubs.
Thanks for sharing and Best Wishes.
looks like you are almost to your 200th soon... congrats!
That's a remarkable achievement and inspiring for new hubbers like myself.

Congrats, Don, on your 100th hub! I just celebrated mine a few days ago myself! You mention some of the creme de la creme here on HubPages. You could do a lot worse than making mention of AEvans. She's one of the most benevolent of Hubbers here at HP. Here's to you!
Warmest Regards,
Dohn
