Pleasure-Way Class B Motorhome

A Pleasure-Way RV, or Class B Motorhome, offers the comfort of Recreational Vehicles and the driving ease of a family van. Pleasure-Way Motorhomes are more compact than the larger RVs on the road but they have nice amenities. If comparing motorhomes or RVs online consider the popularity of Pleasure-Way.

I first saw a Pleasure-Way Motorhome while camping with a large group of people. I wasn’t familiar with them. Friends of ours had bought a used one a few months before.

There are six different models using either a Chevy, Dodge, or Ford chassis and engine:

  • Chev Lexor
  • Chev Lexor RL4
  • Dodge Ascent
  • Dodge Plateau
  • Ford Excel
  • Ford Traverse

Pleasure-Way is a Canadian company with an “unwavering commitment to the highest quality by world craftsmanship; all the interiors of its coaches are hand-crafted piece by piece” (Pleasure-Way Difference: Craftsmanship). The company has a rental program, too.

Inside the Pleasure-Way motorhome

I looked inside the Pleasure-Way Ford Excel at the campground where we were staying. There was an awning extended 11-feet from the side of the motor home providing plenty of shade and ample space for a table.

Our friends had bought a 2006 model for $ 55,000. On the website, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $81,770.00. Their motor home is 20 feet 4 inches in length, has a V10 engine, and gets 12 miles per gallon. My friend told me that he kept it in cruise control while driving up hills.

A word of note here: Class B van motor homes can pull into tent spaces in campgrounds with a maximum 21 feet in length giving it versatility.

The engineering is remarkable. It sleeps four people comfortably and has a back door that swings wide-open allowing access from the sides or the back. To me, this is a distinct advantage over our 21-foot Dolphin motor home. There are the doors for the passenger and the driver in the cab but the only entrance is a narrow door on the side which means using it as a vehicle to haul large items is impractical.

The Pleasure-Way can certainly be used for errands and not just recreational touring.

The bathroom is remarkable with both a tub and shower. The cabinets are nicely crafted and the bed has memory foam.

Our friends bought their Pleasure-Way after looking online. The person who sold it to them had it listed for about two days and had other calls as well.

The coach is definitely popular. Pleasure-Way has an owners club and Ambassador program listed on its Web site.
