Free Workshops and Quickbooks Training

Getting a small business started or keeping an existing business operating requires many different skill sets. The PACE Business Development Center (BDC) and Women’s Business Center in Los Angeles gives small business owners a management team and professional consultants at a low cost. PACE is one of several business development centers in the region. Workshops are led by qualified individuals including professors from the University of Southern California.

Free Workshops

Free Quickbooks workshops are available through the PACE BDC. There were four different sessions available: getting started with Quickbooks including common business terms and accounting basics; entering sales and invoices; analyzing financial data including formatting reports; tracking time, payroll, and customizing forms.

PACE BDC is located in downtown Los Angeles but sessions are often held in locations around the city.

Low fee business workshops and business series

Low Cost Workshops

There are workshops that focus on creating a business plan, website basics, creating an online presence, marketing online, and advanced internet marketing skills. Some of these workshops will cost as little as $35 for one session lasting over three hours while others will cost up to $ 80 for two sessions on different dates lasting about two hours each.

Business essential series

PACE Business Development Center offers a low-cost series like “Marketing Essentials”, “Financial Management Essentials”, and “Business Plan Essentials”. These are courses taking place on four or five different dates and last from two hours to three hours each. The cost is usually around $100.

The center also offers an Entrepreneur Training Program which is a 25-hour business start-up course that allows participants to “make mistakes on paper” instead of costly mistakes in the real world. The 25-hours only cost $ 75.

Business Consulting

There are a variety of business consulting options ranging from one-on-one to having a micro-mentor team available online.

Business Loans

Microloans are available to qualified small businesses giving them access to working capital. Loans go up to $ 15,000 and interest rates will be charged at 8% to 11% for loans from 12 months to 36 months. PACE consultants are also trained to help companies navigate the process to qualify for Small Business Administration Financing Programs.

Tax Preparation Assistance

Free tax preparation assistance is available to low and moderate income individuals and families.

Multi-language friendly

There are select programs and services available in Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese.

The PACE Business Development Center is located at 1055 Wilshire Blvd in downtown Los Angeles at Bixel Street. Many of the workshops are held at nearby locations.
