Pro whitening toothbrush: Buying the Arm and Hammer spinbrush
64Reasons to buy a spinbrush online at Amazon
Using a spinbrush pro whitening toothbrush is an affordable way to use the strength of a power toothbrush to remove plaque that results in gingivitis and bleeding gums. Spending $7.99 or up on a power toothbrush may seem unnecessary since handheld toothbrushes may only cost $1.99 to $2.99. However, a spinbrush has saved me from spending a few thousand or more on gum surgery.
Arm and Hammer pro whitening toothbrush
I’m using the Arm & Hammer spinbrush pro whitening toothbrush. I’m finding it effective in my ongoing prevention and treatment for gingivitis. The cost and value it provides is definitely worthwhile.
The Arm & Hammer spinbrush is a bit heavy with the battery compartment. But it’s easy to click on, and the dual action brush heads work powerfully and effectively to clean the teeth.
Combining the spinbrush with
dental floss is an effective way to keep gums healthy. Research states that a power brush is more effective than a manual toothbrush. “In a clinical study
comparing the dual-action head design of Spinbrush® Pro Series to
two leading advanced-design manual brushes, Spinbrush® Pro Series
Battery-Powered Toothbrushes removed 70% more hard-to-reach plaque” (from Oralcarepro.com/articlesandresources).
I never used power brushes of any type; I simply didn’t think they were necessary. Several years ago, my gums were sore and they bleeding easily whenever I brushed my teeth. I could feel pressure building up inside them; the soreness was noticeable throughout the day. I need to say I eat healthy (even though I wrote a Hub on Lindt chocolate!) and I normally brushed my teeth twice a day and occasionally used a toothpick after lunch. I was not flossing my teeth at the time, either.
I went to my general dentist and he referred me to a periodontist. I was hesitant to go since I didn’t want to spend the money. But he told me my gums were beginning to deteriorate and the only solution was going to be gum surgery. That did not sound appealing to me.
I went to the periodontist who inspected my gums and then set an appointment for me to come in and show me how to clean my teeth. I felt a bit insulted since I had learned how to clean my teeth in elementary school. Remember the chewable tablets that showed the spots you missed when brushing your teeth? The visit was $ 150.00.
I made the appointment for the hygienist to clean my teeth. After, he showed me how to use a power toothbrush – like the Arm & Hammer spinbrush. And he showed me how to use dental floss – stringing it between both index fingers and then moving the hands at an angle to clean out debris around the molars. The visit was another $150.
They put me on a three month schedule – one visit every three months to my general dentist for a cleaning and one visit every three months to the periodontist. That was three years ago.
My gums have improved and I have avoided costly surgery. For those who have gone through the same experiences, I had many “4s” and “3s” in my gums – places that showed inflammation. Now I have almost no “4s” and mostly “2s.” I now alternate once every 4 months or 6 months between my dentist and periodontist.
I often floss two to three times per day. I do miss stretches of days now and then. And I brush using a spinbrush or power toothbrush.

Keys to brushing teeth well
Hold the toothbrush lightly against the teeth.
- If using a handheld toothbrush, do not press down hard and do not press against the gums.
- Brush in light circles from front to sides.
If using a power toothbrush
- hold in one position against the teeth for several seconds
- move slowly to one side and then the other.
Do not press the brush hard against the teeth or gums.
A thorough brushing should take about two minutes. I spend that amount of time a few different brushing sessions per week; but not all the time. I do floss at lunchtime instead of brushing.
