SEO reference guide

Writers and business owners needing affordable advice on search engine optimization (SEO) should read Secrets of SEO Marketing. I read -- and used -- the book during the past couple of weeks. It's an easy to follow guide written by Jimena Cortes, a search engine optimization consultant working in Southern California.

The book is a reference guide that small business owners and writers can refer back to in order to improve search engine rankings for the niche in which they're competing. I recently used the guide with a client, an accountant, who hired me to provide a basic website for her and write articles to have her site and blog rank.

Jimena provides a personal overview of how she began providing SEO services after she had hired an off-shore consultant that didn't follow through on the services promised.

Secrets of SEO Marketing is subtitled "Strategies on how I learned to get to the top of search engines and how you can too!"

She provides a well-organized blueprint useful for beginners as well as someone like myself who provides website solutions and article marketing services for small business owners. Her book confirmed for me strategies I have used and in addition helped give me new ideas.

The chapters are easy to skim through, choose the content to focus on, and refer back to. Defining goals, keyword research, and formats for writing articles are provided in addition to sites for submitting content and articles to get listed in.

On-page SEO is touched upon in addition to blogs and forums. The book is a worthwhile guide and is a terrific supplement for use on a site like Hubpages where a tremendous amount of information exists on search engine optimization.

A later chapter also describes the benefits of press releases and using anchor text links in those releases. There's also a guide for evaluating your own website. While I used the book for my accounting client needing article writing and basic SEO, I'm also going to read through the book while putting finishing touches on my new site, Runningasmallbusiness.net.

Again, since the book is well organized you can determine where your strengths lie and what further questions may still exist. Then, you can search Hubpages or other sites for additional SEO-related tips.

You can purchase the book through Amazon. It's available in paperback and for the Kindle.
