Silk flowers for decorating

Silk flowers can bring color to any room when used for decorating. Silk flowers may be a good way to use interior design skills to liven up a room and give it a fresh appearance. Consider rotating the flower arrangements, if appropriate, to give a subtle change to a room’s décor.

Decorating a room with silk flowers has several advantages: the flowers are multi-dimensional as opposed to stencils; easy on the environment; maintenance is extremely low; silk flower arrangements are long lasting and won’t easily go out of style.

If you want to buy silk flowers, there is a link near the end of this Hub in a link box to buy online and get cash back. Or, you can buy the silk flowers through eBay shown at the very end.

Silk flower arrangements

Look for colors in the flower arrangements that compliment a room.

Decide what type of style and décor to create: contemporary, colonial, French country, or office decorating.

Just like real flowers, choose a family of colors within a plant or if one color is dominate, such as green, then look for shades within that color to use. Look for subtle variety.

Consider goals in decorating: to add color to a room; add subtle undertones; make a room look full and vibrant or to add a relaxing and soothing element.

Other uses of decorating with silk flowers can be dividing rooms from each other. Use an open shelf and fill it with the flowers to create a sense of separation from one area to another.

Seasonal arrangements are also a function.

Create wreaths to hang on the front door throughout the year: flower wreaths for Valentine’s Day, Easter, July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Silk flower names

Some of the more popular individual flowers to use in arrangements include:

English Lilac

Anemone

Wisteria

Agapanthus

Daisies

Roses

If creating your own silk flower arrangement, consider a variety of fun containers other than traditional wicker baskets. Clay flower pots, Styrofoam, plastic buckets, and cinder blocks may be unusual but fun ways to contain the arrangements.

Beer glasses and mugs may be cute ways of placing small arrangements of flowers.

Silk grasses are another option to use in decorating.

Silk flowers are readily available to purchase online in addition to local hobby and decorating stores.

Still enjoying my silk flowers

I'm still enjoying the flowers we use -- I appreciate the vibrant colors. As you collect them, you can rotate the flowers to highlight different seasons or special occasions. That way, the silk flowers offer a fresh appearance throughout the year and they maintain a unique look.

Oh, no, you stole my favorite topic, Don :-((((...just kidding. But I do love silk flowers, I used to be crazy about them, often thought day and night on how to arrange something myself, to an extent that sometimes it affected my sleeping pattern, hehe...Now I'm crazy about gemstones, well, just money-wise, in my hope.

Hey, snakebaby . . . I'm sure if you're passionate about silk flowers then there are numerous ways to put different slants on a few Hubs about them. You should share. I'm sure it would make fun reading.

I love silk flowers on Christmas trees. Many of my friends have copied. Now the shops in my resort town all have silk flowers on their Christmas trees!

I am passionate about flowers - wish they were real but the silk is so practical and now they are great looking.

I never thought of silk flowers for decorating a Christmas tree! Great idea for creating a theme tree! I'll try to remember that for next year.

There are so many beautiful silk flowers out there now. Some of them look so real you have to touch them to know if they are or are not silk. Great job.
